Cruelty-Free Fashion Swaps
As a cruelty-free beauty brand, we are all about living a beautiful, meaningful, luxurious life in harmony with all other creatures on this planet. We believe in #beautywithoutsacrifice wholeheartedly – you CAN have effective, beautifully packaged products that are non-toxic, sustainable, and always, always cruelty-free.
We are now working on applying this mindset to every other area of our lives and we’d love to take you on this journey with us! We’ve had lots of fun (and may have spent lots of $$ shopping online) doing our research and finding the best cruelty-free, vegan swaps for our fave fashion items.
ACCESSORIES
We started at the most obvious place – leather. This includes shoes, bags, wallets, jackets, and belts. We wanted to find luxurious, beautifully designed options that were 100% free of animal products.
A little bit of background on the options available:
The most common leather substitute is PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) which, though it’s vegan, is also damaging to the environment. The next most common option is PU (polyurethane), which is a more sustainable option, though still raises some environmental concerns.
Some new options we found that are both cruelty-free and eco-friendly are:
- Paper
- Cork
- Slate stone
- Mushroom leather
- Recycled rubber
- Tree bark leather
- Waxed cotton
- Apple fibers
- Pinatex – leaves from leftover pineapples
- Recycled Tires
- Agave plant
- Teak leaves

Depending on the look you're going for, there is a cruelty-free option for it! Keep your eyes out for the mushroom leather - it's not quite on the market yet, but when it is, it looks amazing! Other standouts for us: Piñatex, made from pineapple waste! How amazing is that?
