How to: Grow your Longest Possible Lashes
Do you ever notice how kids (and so many men) have those gorgeously full, long lashes? Unfair right?!
For children, the reason is mostly age. As we age, eyelash follicles can slow or stop producing new lashes altogether.
For men however, the reason is simply leaving their lashes alone! They don’t wear mascara and they don’t use harsh eye makeup remover every night.
Before we get into the tips below, it’s worth understanding how different lash serums actually work — especially the difference between prostaglandin-based formulas and safer alternatives. (See how prostaglandin-free lash serums compare and what to look for.)
Read on for tips to enhance (and keep) your lashes just as long and ultra-lush as your husbands and kiddos:
1. Remove your makeup every night.
And we know, some nights it's tempting to crawl into bed and skip our regime, but this step is essential to your lash health. Mascara residue can irritate and cause buildup in our lash follicles, inhibiting growth.
2. Avoid rough tugging or rubbing when removing makeup.
Rubbing can irritate the follicle, causing delicate lashes to break off. Not to mention, let’s avoid creating any unnecessary wrinkles around our eyes, right?!
3. Use a gentle makeup remover without alcohols or chemicals.
Harsh removers can strip hydration from your lash line and cause irritation in the follicle. Dry lashes = brittle, weak, stumpy lashes.
A great alternative remover is coconut oil. Not only is it all-natural, inexpensive, and delicious smelling, it will help strengthen and hydrate your lashes! You can’t lose with this one.

4. Use our Lash & Brow Enhancing serum morning and/or night to:
- Lengthen: keep hair follicles in a prolonged development phase, allowing lashes and brows to achieve greater length
- Thicken: lock in keratin, moisture, and key nutrients to increase hair volume, thickening and strengthening lashes and brows at the root
- Multiply: protect delicate hairs from environmental harm and breakage to keep more lash and brow hairs in place

5. Curl your lashes – gently!
Use a quality lash curler like our Curl & Lift Lash Curler before mascara application, on those no mascara days, and for an after-work/date night boost.

6. Use an all-natural mascara.
Harsh chemicals strip the moisture from your lash line and can cause lashes to fall out.
Exciting news: our Nourish & Amplify Mascara is available to shop!
7. Groom your lashes.
Just like the hair on your head, your lashes love to be brushed. This practice will help remove dead hairs and straighten or untangle the healthy ones.
Bonus: the spoolie end of your pomade brush can do double duty as your lash brush as well.

8. Vitamins, vitamins, vitamins!
Certain vitamins can help restore and maintain the health of your hair and lashes:
Vitamin C
This super-vitamin hydrates your lashes, repairs damage to the follicle, aids in collagen production, and helps prevent lash breakage.
Foods that are high in vitamin C: strawberries, cranberries, pineapples, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, oranges, tomatoes, grapefruits, and kale.
Vitamin E
Reduces hair follicle inflammation, encourages hair growth, aids in cellular reproduction, and helps prevent lash breakage.
Foods that are high in vitamin E: almonds, hazelnuts, kale, spinach, sunflower seeds, blueberries, peanut butter and avocados.
Biotin
Encourages lash growth by increasing blood flow to your hair follicles. Thickens your eyelashes by preventing hair from drying and falling out.
Foods rich in Biotin: bananas, soybeans, mushrooms, eggs, walnuts, beans, peanut butter. As if we need another reason to eat peanut butter, amiright?!
