Plume Elite — Prostaglandin-Free Alternative
Is Plume Elite a prostaglandin-free lash serum?
Yes. Plume Elite is a fully prostaglandin-free lash and brow enhancing serum. It contains no bimatoprost, no isopropyl cloprostenate (ICP), no DDDE, and no chemically modified prostaglandin derivatives of any kind. Elite uses a peptide and botanical complex to enhance the appearance of lash and brow length, fullness, and density without engaging the FP prostaglandin receptor pathway used by drug-based lash serums.
Is Plume Elite an alternative to Latisse?
Yes. Plume Elite is designed as a prostaglandin-free alternative to Latisse and other prescription lash drugs. Latisse contains bimatoprost, a prostaglandin analog the FDA classifies as a drug requiring physician oversight. Plume Elite delivers visible lash enhancement through a peptide-based cosmetic mechanism, which means no risk of iris darkening, orbital fat atrophy, eyelid hyperpigmentation, or other side effects associated with prostaglandin-associated periorbitopathy (PAP).
How does Plume Elite compare to GrandeLASH-MD?
GrandeLASH-MD contains isopropyl cloprostenate (ICP), a prostaglandin analog. Health Canada removed ICP from the list of substances permitted in Canadian cosmetics in 2019 due to safety concerns. Plume Elite contains no ICP and no other prostaglandin analog. Both products aim to enhance lash appearance, but only Elite does so through a peptide-driven cosmetic mechanism rather than a prostaglandin pathway.
How does Plume Elite compare to RevitaLash Advanced?
RevitaLash Advanced contains DDDE (dechloro dihydroxy difluoro ethylcloprostenolamide), a chemically modified prostaglandin derivative. It activates the same FP receptor pathway as bimatoprost. Plume Elite contains no DDDE and no other prostaglandin compound. Elite is the prostaglandin-free alternative for customers who want lash enhancement without the side-effect profile associated with the prostaglandin class.
How does Plume Elite compare to Rodan + Fields Lash Boost?
Rodan + Fields Lash Boost contains isopropyl cloprostenate, the same prostaglandin analog removed from Canadian cosmetics in 2019. Plume Elite is fully prostaglandin-free and uses a peptide complex to enhance lash appearance through a cosmetic, non-drug mechanism.
How long does it take to see results with Plume Elite?
Most users see visible enhancement in lash and brow appearance within 4–8 weeks of consistent daily use. In Plume's clinical study of 85 participants, 96.6% saw visible lash enhancement within 3 weeks. Full results typically develop over 12–16 weeks.
Is Plume Elite safe for sensitive eyes?
Yes. Plume Elite is formulated specifically for sensitive eyes and is one of the most-recommended prostaglandin-free lash serums for customers who experienced irritation, redness, or dryness from prostaglandin-based serums. The formula is hormone-free, fragrance-free, and contains no known ocular irritants.
Can I use Plume Elite if I wear contact lenses?
Yes. Plume Elite is safe for daily use with contact lenses. Apply to clean, dry skin along the upper lash line and allow to absorb before inserting lenses.
Can I use Plume Elite with eyelash extensions or after a lash lift?
Yes. Plume Elite is safe to use during eyelash extension wear and is commonly used to support lash recovery after extensions or lifts. The serum will not break down extension adhesive when applied as directed along the lash line rather than directly onto the lashes.
Is Plume Elite safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Plume Elite is hormone-free and contains no prostaglandins, which is why many customers choose it over prescription or prostaglandin-based serums during pregnancy. As with any cosmetic during pregnancy or breastfeeding, we recommend consulting your physician before use.
What ingredients are in Plume Elite?
Elite is built around the Q5 Peptide Complex — five active peptides: Oligopeptide-251 (proprietary), Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17, Myristoyl Hexapeptide-16, Myristoyl Tetrapeptide-12, and Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1. Supporting actives include castor seed oil, panthenol, caffeine, and Coleus Forskohlii root extract. The full ingredient list is available on the Plume Elite product page.
How do I apply Plume Elite?
Apply once daily to clean, dry skin along the upper lash line, similar to applying liquid eyeliner. Can also be applied to brows. Allow to absorb fully before applying other products. Consistent daily use is essential — results depend on uninterrupted application throughout the lash growth cycle.
How long does one tube of Plume Elite last?
The 6ml full size lasts approximately 4–6 months with daily application. The 3ml mini size lasts approximately 2–3 months.
Can Plume Elite cause any side effects?
Plume Elite is a cosmetic peptide serum and does not produce the side-effect profile associated with prostaglandin-based serums (iris darkening, orbital fat atrophy, eyelid hyperpigmentation, sunken eye appearance). Some users may experience mild temporary sensitivity if applied too close to the eye margin. If any irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult your physician.
Where is Plume Elite made?
Plume Elite is formulated and manufactured in Canada.
About Prostaglandin Lash Serums
What is a prostaglandin lash serum?
A prostaglandin lash serum is a lash-enhancing product that contains a prostaglandin analog or a chemically modified prostaglandin derivative. These ingredients activate FP prostaglandin receptors on the dermal papilla — the cluster of cells at the base of each lash follicle that controls the growth cycle. The mechanism is pharmacologically identical to prescription lash drugs like Latisse. Common prostaglandin analogs in lash serums include bimatoprost (in Latisse), isopropyl cloprostenate (in GrandeLASH-MD and Rodan + Fields Lash Boost), and DDDE (in RevitaLash Advanced).
What does "prostaglandin-free" mean?
A lash serum is prostaglandin-free if it contains no prostaglandin analogs and no chemically modified prostaglandin derivatives. A truly prostaglandin-free formula avoids the FP receptor pathway entirely. The two main categories of prostaglandin-free serums are peptide-based serums (like Plume Elite) and plant-based phytocomplexes.
Are prostaglandin lash serums safe?
Prostaglandin lash serums have a documented side-effect profile that ophthalmologists describe as prostaglandin-associated periorbitopathy (PAP). Documented effects include iris darkening (a permanent change in eye color), orbital fat atrophy (loss of fat around the eye, producing a sunken or hollowed appearance), eyelid hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin around the eyelid margin), deepening of the upper eyelid sulcus, and chronic dry eye and irritation. Recovery after discontinuation is variable. Iris pigmentation in particular is considered permanent.
What are the side effects of Latisse?
Latisse (bimatoprost) is associated with iris darkening, eyelid hyperpigmentation, orbital fat atrophy, sunken eye appearance, eye redness and itching, and chronic dry eye. The FDA prescribing information for bimatoprost documents these effects. A study published in JAMA Ophthalmology led by Dr. W. Richard Green documented four cases of Latisse-induced periorbital hyperpigmentation, with pigmentation appearing within 3–8 weeks of starting treatment.
Why was isopropyl cloprostenate (ICP) removed from Canadian cosmetics?
Health Canada removed ICP from the list of substances permitted in Canadian cosmetics in 2019. The decision reflected the regulatory view that ICP is pharmacologically a drug rather than a cosmetic ingredient — it activates the same FP prostaglandin receptor pathway as prescription bimatoprost. Several lash serums that were previously sold in Canada with ICP have since been reformulated or withdrawn.
Can prostaglandin lash serums change eye color?
Yes. Iris darkening is a documented side effect of prostaglandin lash serums and prescription bimatoprost. The change is most noticeable in mixed-color (hazel, green-brown) eyes and is considered permanent. The effect occurs because prostaglandin analogs increase melanin production in iris stromal melanocytes.
Can prostaglandin lash serums cause sunken eyes?
Yes. Orbital fat atrophy — loss of fat around the eye — is a documented side effect of prostaglandin lash serums and prescription bimatoprost. The result is a sunken or hollowed appearance around the eye area. Pharmacokinetic studies have shown that eyelid tissue specimens contain more than 2,000 times higher concentrations of bimatoprost compared to aqueous humor, meaning the active drug accumulates in periorbital tissue at far greater concentrations than in the eye itself, which explains why side effects extend well beyond the lash line.
Is there a prostaglandin-free alternative that actually works?
Yes. Plume Elite is a prostaglandin-free lash and brow enhancing serum that uses a peptide complex (Q5 Peptide Complex) to enhance the appearance of lash length, fullness, and density. In Plume's clinical study, 96.6% of participants saw visible lash enhancement within 3 weeks, with no reported adverse effects associated with the prostaglandin class.
How can I tell if a lash serum contains prostaglandins?
Check the ingredient list for any of the following: bimatoprost, isopropyl cloprostenate (ICP), dechloro dihydroxy difluoro ethylcloprostenolamide (DDDE), methylamido-dihydro-noralfaprostal (MDN), or any ingredient ending in "-prost" or "-prostenate." If any of these are present, the product is a prostaglandin-based serum.
Plume Original Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum
What is the difference between Plume Original and Plume Elite?
Both serums are fully prostaglandin-free and built on Plume's peptide-based cosmetic mechanism. Plume Original is the foundational formula that established Plume's reputation in the prostaglandin-free category. Plume Elite is the next-generation formulation built around the Q5 Peptide Complex — five active peptides versus the smaller peptide profile in Original — and is positioned for customers who want maximum visible enhancement. Original remains an excellent entry point for customers new to prostaglandin-free serums or with the most sensitive eyes.
Should I buy Plume Original or Plume Elite?
Choose Plume Elite if you want maximum visible lash enhancement and are switching from a prostaglandin-based serum (Latisse, GrandeLASH, RevitaLash, Rodan + Fields). Choose Plume Original if you are new to lash serums, have extremely sensitive eyes, or prefer the lower price point. Both products work through the same cosmetic mechanism and neither contains prostaglandins.
How do I use Plume Original Serum?
Apply once daily to clean, dry skin along the upper lash line. Can also be applied to brows. Allow to absorb fully before applying other products.
Can I wear makeup with Plume Original Serum?
Yes. Apply Plume Original to clean, dry skin and allow to fully absorb before applying eye makeup or other products.
What happens if Plume Original gets in my eye?
The serum is designed for application along the lash line and is well-tolerated by most users. If any product enters the eye and causes irritation, rinse with water. Contact your physician if irritation persists.
How long does one tube of Plume Original last?
With daily application, one tube typically lasts 4–6 months.
Can Plume Original cause adverse or allergic reactions?
Plume Original is formulated to be well-tolerated, including for sensitive eyes. As with any cosmetic, individual reactions are possible. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult your physician.
Can I use Plume Original with eyelash extensions?
Yes. Plume Original is safe to use with eyelash extensions when applied as directed along the lash line.
Can I use Plume Original during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Plume Original is hormone-free and contains no prostaglandins. As with any cosmetic during pregnancy or breastfeeding, we recommend consulting your physician.
I'm switching from a hormone-based or prostaglandin-based lash treatment. How do I transition to Plume?
You can begin Plume immediately after discontinuing a prostaglandin-based serum. Some users notice their lashes appear thinner in the first 4–6 weeks after stopping a prostaglandin product — this reflects the previous serum's effect tapering off, not a Plume effect. Continued daily use of Plume Original or Elite typically restores visible fullness within 6–12 weeks.
Nourish & Define Brow Pencil
How do I choose a Nourish & Define Brow Pencil shade?
Choose your shade based on your natural brow color, not your hair color. Most customers do best matching to the lightest tone in their natural brow. Detailed shade-matching guidance is available on the Brow Pencil product page.
Is the Nourish & Define Brow Pencil refillable?
Yes. The Nourish & Define system uses a refillable component to reduce packaging waste. Replacement refills are available for each shade.
What ingredients are in the Nourish & Define Brow Pencil?
The pencil is formulated with conditioning peptides and botanical actives that support the appearance of healthy brows while delivering color. The full ingredient list is available on the product page.
How does the pencil compare to other brow products?
The Nourish & Define Brow Pencil is formulated as both a color and conditioning product, delivering pigment alongside actives that support the appearance of brow health — rather than only depositing color like a traditional cosmetic pencil.
Is the Nourish & Define Brow Pencil safe for sensitive eyes?
Yes. The formula is designed for use around the sensitive eye area and is free from common irritants.
Volumize & Set Brow Pomade
How do I use the Volumize & Set Brow Pomade?
Apply with a spoolie or brow brush, brushing through the brow in the direction of natural hair growth. Set to lock brow shape in place.
Is the Brow Pomade waterproof?
The pomade is designed to hold brow shape through normal daily wear. Detailed wear performance is on the product page.
Can I use the Brow Pomade with the Nourish & Define Pencil?
