YOUR QUESTIONS ON THE LASH & BROW ENHANCING SERUM

HOW DOES THE SERUM WORK TO GROW LASHES & BROWS?

Our formula of 100% natural ingredients stimulates growth in 3 main ways:

1. Thicker: by locking in keratin, moisture, and nutrients to increase volume and strengthen hair at the root.

2. Longer: by keeping hair follicles in the growth phase longer.

3. Fuller: by protecting delicate hair from environmental harm and breakage with powerful antioxidants.

For more on the role of each ingredient in the serum, read our blog.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS WITH THE SERUM?

While many people see great results in less than 4 weeks, it varies for everyone depending on many different factors. We recommend allowing 8 to 12 weeks for maximum results!

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET TO YOUR “LASH GOAL” AND STOP USING? WILL LASHES FALL OUT OR GET THINNER?

Your lashes will gradually return to their normal, pre-Plume state within a few months. Once your lashes are #goals length, we recommend switching to applying 2-3 times per week to maintain results.

IS THERE A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN APPLYING ONCE PER DAY VS TWO TIMES PER DAY

Applying 2x per day will get you to your lash goal quicker!

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR SERUM AND STRAIGHT CASTOR OIL?

Castor oil is only a tiny portion of our lash growth cocktail. It’s most important function is to act as a carrier vehicle for another key player in the growth game. So, while Castor Oil is important for its transporting abilities, it really shines as a supporting character, not as the lead act.

We have a whole blog on this topic if you’d like to know more about all the ingredients that create our lash and brow growth cocktail!

I THOUGHT OILS WEAKEN LASH EXTENSION ADHESIVES? WHY DON’T YOUR OILS FALL INTO THIS GROUP?

It’s true – some oils can cause the adhesive on your lash extensions to weaken. What isn’t true, is that ALL oils have this effect on eyelash adhesive.

Four oils to stay away from – mineral oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil, and canola oil. These oils have been shown to weaken extension adhesives. Many other oils however, like those contained in our Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum (Coleus Forskohlii Root Oil, Castor Seed Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil), are completely safe for use with lash extensions and have been tested to have no effect on cyanoacrylate-based adhesives and their esters (the almost universally-used eyelash adhesive).

Our serum will keep your own lashes healthy while you wear your extensions AND help your extensions last longer by extending the growth-cycle and shortening the falling-out cycle of your own lashes.

I’M SWITCHING FROM LATISSE TO PLUME – ANY ADVICE?

If you’re switching from any hormone-based eyelash treatment, we recommend waiting at least 3 months before using Plume or any other lash enhancing product. Why? When your lashes become accustomed to this external supply of hormones, they may shed rapidly when you stop using the product. This 3-month waiting period will allow your lash follicles to return to their natural function without the added hormones.

To find out if the serum you’ve used is hormone based, visit our blog.

CAN AGE AFFECT RESULTS USING THE SERUM?

It can. The drop in hormones as we age slows the production of eyelashes, meaning new lash follicles take longer to mature. Also, eyelashes lose their ability to retain moisture as effectively, often resulting in damage to the follicle. Plume Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum is effective in both of these circumstances, however results can take longer to appear. Allow 12 – 16 weeks of consistent use to see full, fabulous results!

YOUR QUESTIONS ON THE POMADE & PENCIL

HOW DO I CHOOSE A POMADE OR PENCIL SHADE?

We recommend choosing 1 shade lighter than your natural hair color. If you're still not sure, take a selfie in natural light and send to info@plumescience.com or DM us on Instagram. We'll help you find your perfect match!

You can also browse through our blog to see every shade on a variety of different ladies!

HOW DO I CHOOSE BETWEEN THE POMADE AND PENCIL?

We have a whole blog on this topic if you want the full tea, or a quick summary:

The Pomade is the most versatile option – you can create any brow look under the sun! The caveat: it takes a tiiny bit of learning, but the payoff is worth it. It also lasts forever so you won’t have to rebuy for quite a while. If you have non-existent brows or super sparse brows, the pomade is the answer for you!

The Pencil is incredibly easy to use, requires almost no learning, and can easily draw individual hairs or fill in larger areas. It’s perfect for those 5-minute face days! It doesn’t last as long as the pomade, but it’s refillable so you can pick up a 2pack of refills instead of a new pencil each time – sustainable and cost-saving!

CAN I USE THE POMADE & PENCIL ON MICROBLADED BROWS?

While none of the ingredients in our brow pomade or brow pencil are known to interfere with the microblading process, we recommend reviewing the ingredient list with your Microblading Specialist to ensure its compatible. Always wait until your brows are fully healed before applying any products to them.

MY BROW PENCIL DIDN’T LAST VERY LONG – AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?

While the brow pencil doesn’t last as long as the never-ending pomade, it should still last a while. If you’re going through it super fast, it’s probably because:

  • You’re applying too much – start with a very small amount and build from there. Especially with these pencils – a little goes a long way!
  • Too much pressure – you only need a very light touch to impart color (and the pencil is very soft so press gently).
  • Twisting the pencil up too high – this can cause any pencil to break which means wasted product.

CAN BROW PRODUCTS STUNT BROW GROWTH?

It’s possible – two common ingredients in many brow products can impede hair growth:

Polyacrylamide: creates a thin coating over hair, nails, or skin. It helps hairs stay in position by preventing the hairs from absorbing moisture. The problem is, hair needs moisture in order to grow, and this ingredient is stripping essential moisture from your brows.

Isoparaffin, Paraffin Wax, Liquid Paraffin: Isoparaffin acts as a sort of plastic wrap – impeding the skin’s ability to release toxins. This can inhibit brow growth as it doesn’t allow the follicles to breathe. Also, any other toxins in your brow product are being sealed in by this ingredient.

WHY DO YOU CHARGE IN USD IF YOU’RE CANADIAN?

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I NEED TO REPLACE MY LASH CURLER PAD?

When you see a defined crease in the pad from closing the curler many times, it’s time to swap it out. The curler won’t work as well once it reaches this point.

ARE LASH EXTENSIONS SAFE TO USE? WILL THEY RIP OUT MY EYELASHES?

Lash extensions can definitely damage your lashes if they’re applied improperly or the incorrect lashes are used. The most important factor in your lash extension experience is your lash artist – find a reputable, experienced lash tech with lots of positive reviews. Home care is super important too.

In terms of safety, lash extension adhesive does include some questionable ingredients – the most toxic one being Carbon Black. Ask for clear adhesive to avoid this proven toxin.
